About The Project

This house renovation project began with the needs of a retired couple entering a new chapter of life. They envisioned a home that feels bright, spacious, and comfortable for everyday living, leading the design to focus on reopening the main living areas and removing non-essential partitions to create a more fluid and connected spatial experience. In response to the desire for openness without compromising privacy, the façade is composed of custom-designed breeze blocks that act as a permeable layer between the house and its surroundings, allowing natural light and ventilation to flow freely while maintaining a sense of enclosure. Rather than pursuing a radical transformation, the project retains the existing footprint of the house and redefines its proportions, scale, and spatial relationships, resulting in a home that feels lighter, more open, and better aligned with the rhythm of its occupants' daily lives.
